A Day On The Village Green, 2005 On June 25, 2005 the Genoa Lakes Golf Resort hosted the 20th "A Day On The Village Green". The day was promising to be perfect and it didn't let us down, however we had a little more wind then we wanted. What was disappointing was the RJC turnout. Everyone one that was there indeed had a very fun time. Lots of sharing of car facts were discussed and the pride of ownership was everywhere. A huge THANK YOU goes out to Charlie and Carolyn Manchester and Gerard Garra for organizing this event. It took months of hard work to prepare for this event. Few people realize just how time consuming it is to organize any event and especially one of this caliber. I big thank you goes out to all the judges and other helpers as well. Here is what our President, Gerard Garra, had to say about this event: "The Judges were, Ron Profit, Mike Johnson, Jeff and Sharon Egner and
myself. Our helpers were Sunny, who did the scoring and Harry who was
a runner, general helping person for the mechanicals.
"I was pleased by the show and the variety of British cars we had there. The turn out from the MG All British Club was very good. There were fine examples of MG TC, MGA, MGB and a lovely MG Magnette sedan. Triumphs were well represented with TR6, TR8s and a Spitfire. Then came the Morris Minor family, they had a UK Postal sedan delivery, a fun Morris convertible and a rare Morris Minor pedal car complete with kids stuffed inside. Randy and the Egners completed their field with 2 Aston Martins, same model, a couple of years apart. Randy's Aston won by a nose with a 99.99 beating the Egners by .01. "Jeff acquired a rare and phenomenal MKIV, that was the best of the Jaguars I saw there. The headlights were at least 16" in diameter, possibly more. It was gorgeous, even down to the original tools. "The awards for the All British and JCNA Jaguars was done in the mid afternoon on the Patio areas of the facility. Trophies were given out for all classes. all positions, so everyone seemed happy on what was received. We then had a great raffle, with lots of prizes. "Since all the awards were given out in the afternoon, the dinner was a low key relaxing affair. We had cocktails and sat down a little after 7:00. Susie said her fish was great, my wildebeast was fine. The room overlooked the surrounding meadows to the South, with the Sierras on your right. "The next day rather than doing a poker run, we did a little exploring of the surrounding immigrant trail areas. "Then Sunny and Dave Minedew, Don and Carmen Johnson, Mike Johnson and myself went to see a cache cave that Snowshoe Thompson had used during his trips. Also in the same area was a rock that was marked with a date of July 2 something 1849 with the name Rogers. The best part it was written with axle grease and you could not see the figures unless the rock was shaded or high moisture in the air. Other than that it was invisible until it was shaded. The Minedews went back to Reno and the rest of us forged to Lake Tahoe and Heavenly Valley. Courtesy of the Manchesters we had a free ride to the top in the tram, had a lunch and then made our way back home. A really nice relaxing day, with great views of the Lake and surrounding areas." Here are the results:
Here are
