The June dinner meeting will be on Friday June 11, 2010 at La Vecchia Ristorante on the corner of Moana and South Virginia.  Please RSVP to Pat or Jack Campbell.

Hi Fellow Jag Lovers,

Mark your calendars to attend our next tech session on Saturday, June 12. Mike Johnson will lead this session on one of the most mysterious and misunderstood areas on our older cars - SU and Stromberg carburetors. Mike will provide a solid grounding in the theory and operation of these carbs (critical to correctly diagnosing problems), basic maintenance and troubleshooting, and a range of engine, ignition, and fuel system issues that often appear to be carburetor problems but really aren't. He will also demonstrate the use of various specialized tools, including a gas analyzer, and will demonstrate how to properly set the mixture and balance a multi-carb setup on a running engine. There will be plenty of opportunity for Q&A, and depending on the level of interest and time, attendees will have an opportunity to put the gas analyzer on their own cars to see what it's telling them.

The session will take place in Gary Dyer's garage at his home at 13340 Saddlebow Drive in Reno., starting at 9:30 am and going to about 1:00 pm or later as needed to try to give everyone who wants it a chance to use the equipment. An extra big thanks to Gary and Kathy for letting us invade their garage like this.

Please RSVP to me by e-mail or phone to help us plan, but feel free to come even if your plans change at the last minute.

Also, save the date of July 24 for another tech session. Iain Buxton will be teaching us all about buffing and polishing metals, plastic and glass. Watch for more information coming soon.

Cheers to all.

Reno Jag Club Road Trip

Big Springs Gardens - Sierra City, CA

Saturday, June 26, 2010

We will caravan to Sierra City, which is approximately a 2 hour drive to enjoy the beautiful 30 acre Big Springs Gardens and hiking trails before a 1:00 pm ‘Barbecue Buffet’.  Festivities begin at 12:00 noon with complementary hors d’oeuvres and time to explore the gardens & trails.  At 1:00 we will feast on the following four entrees:  Baby Back Ribs, Chicken, Salmon and choice Prime Rib; side dishes include salads, fresh fruits, corn on the cob, baked beans, non-alcoholic beverages, and delectable desserts!

The owner welcomes car clubs, and will arrange a special parking area for our Jags.

COST:  The price per person, which includes the admission fee, hors d’oeuvres and meal is $37.00 per person.  As they require a deposit, we ask that payment to Dave Minedew of cash or check (made out to the “Reno Jaguar Club”) be received on or before June 12, (which is the date of the June Jag dinner), so that we may confirm the reservations

MEETING TIME AND PLACE:  We will meet at the Gold Ranch, and leave promptly at 9:30.

From Truckee we will take Highway 89 north through Sierraville to the intersection with Highway 49. Turn west on Highway 49 and continue on beyond Bassetts Station for 1 ½ miles. After crossing Salmon Creek Bridge take the second driveway on your right. #32613 is clearly marked at the entrance and the road sign reads Big Springs Road.

OVERNIGHT OPTION:  There are several lodges, cabins and motels in the Sierra City area for those who want to spend the night.
