RJC 2005 CHRISTMAS DINNER

Genoa Lakes Golf Club
(
Patti Wilder - RJC Social Director)

On December 3, 2005 we held our annual Reno Jaguar Club Christmas dinner.  It was hard to improve on near “perfection” of last year’s dinner, so the dinner was once again held at the “Genoa Lakes Golf Club” in Genoa Nevada.  We had the intimate Sports Bar all to ourselves.  Christmas music was softly playing as a warm fire burned in the fireplace.  On a screen there was a slide show running of all the pictures taken at all the events for the either year.  The dinner tables were nicely arranged on the other half of the room.  In the center of the room was a large table overflowing with “naughty” and “nice” presents from Santa wrapped in Jaguar paper.  Later in the evening each member received two presents from Santa.  On the back wall was a table for the gifts the members brought for the needy children at the “Children’s Cabinet” in Reno.

All the members came dressed in their party clothes, in fact Gary Dyer and Dave Minedew dressed in Tuxedo’s! As each couple entered the party they had their picture taken by a decorated Christmas tree with a Polaroid camera.  The pictures were then put into a Christmas card and were given to the members as souvenirs.  One member said that, “this was just like on a cruise ship!”

The dinner was a hot buffet with a house salad, cheese tortellini, three entrée’s; Chicken Marsala, Salmon Françoise, Tri Tip of Beef Au Jus, Green beans with red peppers, rolls & butter and assorted Christmas desserts.  All were delicious.

After dinner Santa showed up to hand out all the presents.  Each member had to open two presents in front of the group.  There was lots of laughter especially when members got the “naughty” ones!

I want to thank the following people for helping make this a memorable night:

They are:

  • Mike and Kathy Glass for their help in setting up, taking the pictures of the members as they arrived, organizing, collecting and delivering the canned food donations, and for keeping me organized!

  • Sue Johnson for her expert help in setting up the room

  • Rich Wilder for his technical help in setting up the slide show and PA system

  • Lynne Lenker for making the homemade delicious truffles for all of us.

  • Gerard Garra for being our Santa this year.  Gerard has been such a good sport with all the things I have talked him into doing for the club this year!

  • Marie Stokes, the events coordinator for the Genoa Lakes Golf Club, for her outstanding job in making this an incredible night for the RJC.

Some members had so much fun that they didn’t want to go home so spent the night in Genoa at various different Bed & Breakfasts.

The following pictures will help show just how “perfect” this night was:
