RENO JAGUAR CLUB JULY BBQ
HOSTED BY Russ & Judy Browning
RJC Dinner Meeting Minutes July 15, 2006 Minutes by Sunny Minedew President Patti Wilder welcomed everyone and thanked Russ and Judy Browning for hosting such a wonderful dinner, and Teri and Tony Mitchell for the great time everyone had at the dinner which they hosted in June. She also thanked Sunny Minedew for providing minutes of the meetings. Patti was the winner of the trivia question for this month, which is a $10 cash prize. Old Business Renting track time at the Fernley Race Track Gerard Gerra was looking into this; however, he was unable to make the dinner/meeting. Patti reviewed the options and cost for use of the track. She noted it would be $150 per car; however, the club could subsidize half of that cost, or $75. A show of hands indicated five people were interested in participating. No club members were offended if the Club spends money on this event. Brass Car badges Charles Manchester was unable to attend this meeting, so discussion on this item was postponed. Business Cards for all MembersDave Minedew indicated the cost would be $50 for 1,000 cards. The Club logo, web site and JCNA information will be listed. A blank space will be left in the middle for members to include their name, if desired. No phone number will be listed, as Club officers change each year. RJC Garage SaleThe Dyers have generously offered the parking lot of their Medical Building at 890 Mill St. for the sale. This is an opportunity to promote the Club and raise funds. It was agreed to schedule this on a Sunday, possibly on one of the last two Sundays in September. There will be an area to store items to be dropped off in advance. Weekend Road TripsSuggestions included Nakoma, near Graeagle, and Longboard’s at Plumas Pines. Tony and Teri Mitchell suggested chauffeuring couples on prom night up the hill to the Feather River Inn next spring. They did this 2 years ago and had a great time. Several members volunteered to do this next year. Show and Shines (Brag Day)Patti will check into available dates to rent Deer Park in Sparks for the day. It will be in addition to, not a substitute for “A Day on the Village Green”. Invitations will be sent out to other Jaguar Clubs in a 300-mile radius. This will be a day for the Reno Jaguar Club to share ideas, and knowledge with members from other Jag clubs and allow each club to brag about their own cars/club! The show and shine at the ’50 Yard Line Sports Bar and Grill parking lot offered by Chuck Sorter has been postponed. Tag-A-Jag CampaignAs a reminder a free dinner in January will be provided for the person who brings in the most members for the year. Mail KeysThe following officers will have keys to the Jag Club post office box: Patti Wilder, Gary Dyer, Dave/Sunny Minedew and Harry Keast. Each officer will be responsible for one week a month to pick up the mail. August Appreciation DinnerThis August 19 dinner at the Manchester will be a treat for Club members. The Club will pick up the cost of the dinner with catered ribs and RJC Board members will provide side dishes. Richard Elloyan will be performing during the afternoon. The time and location will be noted in the next dinner announcement. As a reminder, Gary Dyer will be putting together a trivia contest of “observations” on Hwy. 50, for members to identify as they travel on Hwy. 50 to the Manchester’s at Lake Tahoe. A prize will be rewards for the correct answers. New BusinessJune and July birthdays and anniversaries were acknowledged. Some of the birthday wishes were: to be 10 years younger, 25 pounds lighter, and have more money! The day also turned out to be the 39th anniversary of the hosts – Russ and Judy Browing. Sponsor of a Sports Team for the City of SparksPatti will bring back more information on this at the next meeting. Make Tails for the JagsWendy Buxton was unable to attend this dinner, but might be willing to host a workshop. Need a “Tech Session”Gary Dyer and has partner Joe Rajacic of “Classic Car Storage of Reno” will be hosting a seminar at the Harrah’s Automobile Museum from 6:45-7:45 on July 20. Sam Dibitanto also encouraged members to come to Harrah’s Auto Museum to help wax and shine the Club’s adopted Jaguar car on a regular basis. He suggested the best times would be every month or two on Thursdays. Hot August Nights Open CruisePatti Wilder proposed a “ British Invasion” for Hot August Nights. She will look into the possibility of Jag Club members participating in an open cruise. This will most likely be on July 31, Monday, at the Open Cruise in Sparks.
