RENO JAGUAR CLUB JUNE BBQ
HOSTED BY TONY & TERRY MITCHELL
RJC Dinner Meeting Minutes June 24, 2006 Tony and Terry Mitchell did a FABULOUS JOB hosting a BBQ for the Club at their new home. Close to 40 members and guests were in attendance. It was exciting to have 3 new members there. They were, Chuck & Jacqueline Sorter and Herbert Schewe. Guests at this dinner/meeting were Kelly & Joel, friends of Randy Wright, Kathleen a friend of Reggie Dunbar and three of Tony & Terry’s neighbors. President Patti Wilder distributed minutes from the May 23rd RJC Board Meeting and reviewed each item.
Discussion/action was taken on the following:
Logos and Badges
The consensus was to retain the current RJG logo.
There is interest in ordering badges for cars. Some years ago, the Club had nice quality brass badges. Charlie Manchester will bring one to the next meeting for members to see.
Gerard Garra will contact John Leftcourt regarding ordering new windshield stickers.
Weekend road trips
There is interest in participating in more short road trips. In order to provide sufficient lead-time, Patti Wilder will e-mail members at least one week prior to any proposed trip.
RJC Garage Sale
Members were enthusiastic about holding a RJC garage sale to promote the club and raise funds. Time and date to be announced at a later date.
RJC Dinner QuestionGary Dyer will have a question put on the dinner/meeting flyers. Members are to figure out the correct answer and write in at the bottom of the flyer and bring it with them to the next dinner. The members answer sheet with the correct answer will be put into a bin and one will win $10.00 as a prize.
Black-Out-Bingo Membership Dinner IncentivePatti Wilder introduced an incentive for members to come to future dinner/meetings. The incentive is to play one game of Black-Out-Bingo at each dinner/meeting until one or more members win the Pot. Black-Out-Bingo is where your entire Bingo card (25 spots) is covered. Members may buy as many cards as they would like to play for $1.00 each. 50 balls will be called on the first night. If there isn’t a winner that night the next dinner/meeting’s game 55 balls will be called. Five more balls will be called out at each consecutive dinner until a member(s) wins. All the money collected from each monthly game will go into the POT. When a member wins they will get ALL of the money in the POT which could be quite a large sum! If more then one member wins at the same time the POT will be slip between them This incentive will start in the fall.
Fernley Race Course
In order to reduce the fee for renting the course, members agreed to consider a weekday, rather than a Saturday or Sunday. Gerard Garra will work with Patti Wilder on this.
Show and Shines
Chuck Sorter, a new member of the Club has offered the parking lot of his “50 Yard Line Bar” for a show and shine or a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. He has 150 parking spots, with an additional 300 across the street.
Chuck also mentioned that he does TV commercials every couple of months and would like the RJC members to bring their Jags to his parking lot when the new commercial is being filmed!
Patti Wilder suggested Deer Park in Sparks for members to show their cars under the trees. Other car clubs from Nevada and California will be invited. She will check into the cost and availability of the park for a future date.
Sam Dibitonto offered to look into requesting a package deal from either the Peppermill or Atlantis, to include rooms and parking. This would provide a venue to invite other car clubs to bring their cars to Reno and meet the RJC members.
Members’ Appreciation Dinner
The Manchester’s are hosting the August dinner at Tahoe, with Richard Elloyan performing for the Club. The dinner will be catered BBQed Ribs with the board members bringing the side dishes. Gary Dyer has volunteered to create a “driving challenge” on the way to Tahoe, starting at the bottom of Spooner Summit. Charlie will have a trophy for the “People’s Choice” award – members can vote for their own cars! The Manchester’s will also have horseshoes, a fan belt toss, darts and croquet. Reggie Dunbar quipped that it be called “cow pies and fan belts.” The club will pick up all expenses.
