May 12, 2006 Dinner/Meeting The Cattlemens Restaurant President Patti Wilder welcomed everyone and distributed a handout, which included a summary of agenda items and additional information, which she felt would be useful to members as a reference after the meeting. Introduce guests – new members Patti introduced Russ who was Larry Richard’s good friend, and Reggie Dunbar brought her good friend Diane. Events:
It was decided that the officers would continue to send birthday or anniversary cards to members, rather than making these events public; however, three birthdays were celebrated with song, cowboy hats and chocolate sundaes – Gary Dyer, Harry Keast and Reggie Dunbar. Everyone agreed that a “Want Ads” Section on the RJG Webpage was a good idea. The majority also agreed with the suggestion to have some weekend Runs, now that the weather is so much nicer. Many of the members have been “Tagging Jags” and Patti urged them to continue. New BusinessThe club was interested in Eric Landau’s invitation to join other car enthusiasts and meet at the Reno “In & Out Burger”. This may be changed from Friday to Thursday nights so there won’t be a conflict with our dinner/meetings. There are currently 15 spots reserved, and they are holding 3-4 spots for the RJG; however, we may want to request additional spots. In other new business, Charlie Manchester told Club members that if they want to show a car in driven or concourse (champion) events, they can go to Portland, Phoenix or Salt Lake City to see how well their car stands up against others. For those interested, there is a calendar on the JCNA web page. Several members were interested in the upcoming fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society to be held on June 16th in Carson City. A handout was attached describing the event. Membership Report – Harry Keast said there are no new members; however, he has badges for several members who were not in attendance. The roster is now current. Treasurer’s Report – Dave Minedew reported that there is $5,600 in the operating account and $1,500 in the Day on the Village Green account. Proposals to spend some funds for renting a racetrack were met with enthusiasm. Patti will check on the price. Other suggestions were for a wine tasting dinner, a donation to the SPCA for cats and an invitation to past club members for a free dinner, as an incentive to re-join. All members present enthusiastically agreed to the following proposal made by Patti for a future dinner event. The Manchester’s have volunteered their home at Lake Tahoe for a BBQ. In addition, Patti has contacted Richard Elloyan, who performed for the Club at the Tyson Ranch a couple of years ago, and he has agreed to perform a concert at a special rate of $250. This will be a potluck, with the cost of the entertainment and meat covered by the club treasury. Several members pointed out that the date proposed, August 5, is during Hot August Nights. Patti will check with Elloyan to see if he is available on Sunday, August 6. Silent Auction: The social directors reported that $99 was made on the raffle, with lots of great items provided by Mike and Kathy Glass and other members. Information about the next dinner will be
forthcoming. Click on a photo for a larger view.
