Reno Jaguar Club Dinner Meeting

MiCasa Too, Carson City

November 10, 2006

On November 10th we had our monthly dinner/meeting.  This month’s dinner also was elections for the new RJC board for 2007.

We had a disappointing turnout for this dinner.  In fact it was our lowest turn out in over 3+ years.  Was it because members were busy or was it because they were afraid to come to the meeting for fear they would be elected as officers of the club? :>)

The election did not go well.  The RJC Board for 2006 was fantastic. Everyone got along great and worked as a well oiled team.  In fact, many officers agreed to have their names put on the ballot for the 2007 job.  The only position vacant was the Presidency.  No one wanted to have his or her name put on the ballet, except Debbie McMurtrey.  What a great lady she is.  She got 8 votes. After reviewing the by-laws of the RJC it was discovered that we did not have quorum, not enough members were present.  It was therefore decided that a ballot would be sent to all absent RJC members.  Mike Johnson now came in with the most votes – 9 votes.  Mike was notified at the last board meeting that was on November 20, 2006 that he had received the most votes for President.  He was very flattered but he had to decline.  His reasons were many. The main reasons were that he wanted to be in charge of “A Day On The Village Green” next year and with his full time job as well being President was too much.  It was also brought to our attention that you cannot, again in our by-laws, nominate a person who is not present.  We were back to having no President for the club.  Debbie had second thoughts about running for President.  She said that she would like to wait a year and maybe run for V.P. then and get the hang of it before jumping right in.  Gary Dyer stepped up at this point and said that he would like to run for President and Patti Wilder said she would like to run for Vice President.  Again, according to the by-laws these positions must be voted on by a quorum of the RJC Members.  A new ballot will be emailed to all members who have emails and mailed out to members who don’t have emails.  They are to agree or disagree with the members on the ballot.

Please see the new board meeting minutes for a list of all the other officers that were voted in for the RJC 2007 board!.

There wasn’t any old business that night due to the elections but there was some new business.  Chuck Sorter mentioned to the club that he will be doing another commercial shortly and he would like very much to have our Jag Club do a show and shine in his parking lot.  He wasn’t sure of the date but said it would be late November or early December.  An email will come out with more details soon.

All those that were at the dinner had a good time.  The food was great and company was fun. We had 4 guests and 3 are going to sign up as new members!!! The new members were Reid Peterson and Nancy & Bob Price.  Let’s all give them a warm welcome at our next meeting.

The “Fur Jag Purse” prize was raffled off at this dinner.  For those of you who don’t remember this, a few years ago the RJC had a raffle and the prize was put in this furry jag bag that was shaped like a purse.  Well, everyone got such a big kick out of the bag that it became a tradition to “pass the purse”.  The first year John Wittrig and Debbie McMurtrey won the prize.  The next year Kathy and Mike glass won the prize.  The following year Harry & Pat Keast won the prize.  When they opened the purse last year they discovered a note inside.  As they were reading the note Mike and Kathy brought out a large box.  In the box was a margarita set.  This year Pat & Harry brought the raffle prize.  Everyone waited in suspense as the name was drawn and low and behold the Glasses won again!  Again there was a note in the “purse” and the prize was bigger and better then last year! They won a basket full of goodies, wine, glasses, and all kinds of wonderful foods.  The prize keeps getting bigger and bigger. Who knows, maybe next year the prize in the Furry Jag Purse will be a new Jag?!!!
