Reno Jaguar Club Dinner Meeting

October 27, 2006

President Patti Wilder opened the meeting by thanking everyone for attending.  She introduced two prospective members who attended this dinner/meeting:

Sue and Ed Gonyou.

Other prospective members, not in attendance, were:

Ron Pizer (found by Gary Dyer),

Reid Peterson (found by Mike Glass)

Ernest and Judy Gardner (found by Rich Wilder.)

Old Business

Garage Sale

Patti thanked all of the members who came out to help with the RJC garage sale, and especially the Dyers who provided the facility.  She has prepared a video of photos, which she gave out as a thank you to the following people: Sam Dibitanto, Kathy & Gary Dyer, Alex Evans, Larry Lenker, Rex & Dixie Black, Kathy & Mike Glass, Harry Keast and Dave Minedew.

Wine Tour

Fourteen members with eight cars traveled to Lodi to visit a variety of wineries and attend an outdoor concert on October14, 2006.  A fun time was had by all.

(Secretary’s note: Thank you Patti and Rich for putting together such an “awesome” road trip and the fun photo/story of the trip which Patti and Rich have put together on the RJC web site.)

Patti also thanked all of the members who hosted the wonderful summer dinners.  They were much appreciated.

Bingo Idea

The proposed Bingo games, where club members can play and win progressive amounts. These games should encourage members to keep attending the dinner/meetings.  These games will start in January, if the new president agrees.

Rock Park

Although the Jag Club wasn’t able to host a get-together with other car clubs this year at Rock Park, Patti encouraged the club to pursue this next year.

New Business

Patti Wilder suggested that the Club consider “adopting a street” to clean up.   This would get the Club’s name out by placing a sign on the street and be a lot of fun.  Members were enthusiastic about the idea, and Patti will look into it.

Elections

There was a lengthy discussion about the nomination of officers for next year.  The Club is now 23 years old, and many members have served as officers multiple times.  The following people agreed to be placed in nomination:

Vice President Gary Dyer
Treasurer Dave Minedew
Secretary Sunny Minedew
Social Director Kathy & Mike Glass
Membership Director Harry Keast

Index cards were distributed with a request to write down suggested names for each of the positions, with emphasis on President.  Patti will contact these individuals to see if any are willing to be placed on the November ballot.

Update from Officers

Gary Dyer asked if anyone had the answer to this month’s trivia question.  Randy Wright made the only guess – which was incorrect!

Dave Minedew reported as Treasurer that the account is solvent.

Rich Wilder inquired if there were any volunteers to take over the web design.  This got a good laugh, as no one has the required expertise except Rich.

Kathy Dyer said that a 1928 Packard is being auctioned off as a benefit for the SPCA.  Raffle tickets are $50 each and only 500 will be sold.  The event is on November 17th.

Mike and Kathy Glass reported that next month’s dinner will be November 10 at Mi Casa in Carson City, and that it will be election night for Club officers.  Also, it is requested that members bring canned food to the dinner to be donated to the Evelyn Mount fund

The Christmas dinner is scheduled for December 2 at Genoa Lakes.  If you are planning to spend the night, it’s important to make your reservations soon.  An announcement, from Mike Glass, with details, will be sent to Club members soon.  Canned food will also be collected for the Northern Nevada Food Bank.  Mike will bring his truck to transport any donations.

Other Discussion

Patti Wilder noted that Steve Kennedy is running for JCNA President for the Southwest region and would appreciate the vote of any RJC members.  She feels he is a candidate who will do a good job.

Charlie Manchester brought a beautiful perpetual trophy to the meeting, which he recently won for “most elegant” for his 1947 Jag., from the Seattle Jag Club. He has received high scores in different events for his cars, and encourages others to take their cars to these events.

Charlie also passed around a RJC emblem, which can be mounted, on members’ cars.  He will check into the cost of ordering these.

Member Recognition

The Mitchell’s are celebrating their 51st anniversary this month, and the Evans are the Club’s newest members.
