RJC Dinner/Meeting Notes

January 12, 2007

Yen Ching has become the RJC annual Dinner/Meeting Restaurant and this year was no exception.  The first dinner/meeting of the year turned out to be the coldest night in recent memory.  Maybe that is why we had such a low turnout.  Only 18 people showed up – 17 members and one guest.  Everyone there had a really fun time.

Patti Wilder started the meeting before turning the meeting over to the new President for 2007.

She started out the meeting by recapping the events of 2006.  She went over her campaign promises/goals she had made at this time last year.  They were:

  1. Put the MEETING back into the Dinner/Meeting
  2. Put the CARS back into the RJC Car Club
  3. Try to DOUBLE the RJC Membership

Results:

Goal #1: She tried to help motivate the members by trying to get them more involved with the meeting part of the dinners. She made handouts of the outline of what was going to be discussed at that meeting.  Her hopes were that it would generate move conversation in the meeting.  She felt that if members knew what was going to be brought up they would take a more active part. It was also hoped that once members got home they would review the notes.

Rich Wilder also helped here. He took the minutes of these meetings that were written by our Secretary, Sunny Minedew and put them on the RJC webpage for all to see.

Goal #2: She went over all the events of the year that involved our Jaguar’s.  They were:

  • April 23, 2006 -          Vintage Races in Fernley, Nevada
  • April 29, 2006 -          Car trip to McCloud, California for a fun weekend which included dinner on the Famous Shasta Dinner Train
  • May 10, 2006 -            The Dixon Car Show where three of our cars won awards
  • June 16, 2006 -            “Relay for Life American Cancer Car Rally” in Carson City, Nevada
  • August 1, 2006 -          The “British Invasion” at Hot August Nights
  • September 23, 2006 -  1st Annual Garage Sale/Show Off Your Car Day
  • October 14, 2006 -      Car trip to Lodi, California for a weekend of wine tasting and an outdoor concert

Goal #3: She wasn’t able to double the membership but the club grew by 10 members and have 8 pending memberships.  She also reminded everyone that last year at this time a contest was started.  The contest was that the person who brought in the most new members would receive a free dinner.  The winner is yet to be announced.

Patti also took a moment to thank the 2006 RJC Board for their outstanding contribution to the club.  She pointed out that it is not easy to find time to help the RJC but each board member was never “too busy” to stop what they were doing and come to a board meeting or to do the projects that were assigned to them.  Without these dedicated members this club would cease to exist.   She gave each board member a CD of all the dinner’s and events of 2006.

She then went on to introduce the new board members, which happens to be the SAME people with a little shift:  (they liked it so much they all volunteered for another year!)

The New 2007 Board Members are:

President-                                Gary Dyer

Vice President-                       Patti Wilder

Treasurer -                              Dave Minedew

Secretary -                               Sunny Minedew

Membership Chairperson -     Harry Keast

Social Directors -                   Mike & Kathy Glass

Concours Chairperson -                 Mike Johnson

Chief Judge -                           Gerard Garra

Gary Dyer took the meeting over from here.  He reminded everyone that this is “Membership Renewal Month” and asked members for their speedy membership dues.

He also pointed out that it was time for our annual RJC questionnaire and asked each member to fill one out.

Other topics brought up were:

    1. Manchester’s in the JCNA Magazine: 1947 Mark IV (Class 1B Favorite) – WAY TO GO CHARLIE AND CAROLYNN!!!
    2. All members need to make visitors and new members feel more at home -
    3. Dinners – Dates and Places & What to wear for- More Club Spirit – Kathy Glass went over this
    4. Gary had an idea about everyone having “FLASH” cards to hold up at stop signs when we see another jaguar.  Patti brought in a proto-type
    5. Day on the Village Green – Mike Johnson and Gerard Garra discussed this
    6. Happy Birthday to Pat Campbell – Gary interviewed Pat and wished her a very happy birthday.

Gary did an EXCELLENT job in his new role as  President!

Gary surprised Patti with an incredible plaque given to her by the club for outstanding service as President in 2006.  She was overwhelmed!

Patti had one more surprise left for the RJC –

A 2007 calendar with the RJC member’s cars showcased each month.

At the last board meeting it was passed that the calendar would be paid for out of the RJC Treasury and given to ALL current RJC members.  Members can buy additional calendars at the cost of $16.00 each.
