RJC Dinner Meeting

Famous Murphy’s Restaurant

March 9, 2007

President Gary Dyer opened the meeting by welcoming everyone.  Members and guests introduced themselves and the type of cars they own.  A few even shared stories of the tickets they have received!

OLD BUSINESS

A Day on the Village Green

Mike Johnson gave an update on A Day on the Village Green, which is scheduled for June 22-24 at the Cal-Neva Resort at Crystal Bay, Lake Tahoe.  He indicated that he will meet with the All British Club tomorrow, to share information.  He has prepared flyers and entry forms, and distributed copies to club members.  Sunny and Dave Minedew will be handling individual registrations.

Club Calendars

All members have received their calendars.  A big hand was given to Patti Wilder, who created the calendars.  The consensus is that they are gorgeous.  Patti said putting it together was a labor of love.

Tech Session.

A tech session will be held at the Dyers’ home, or if not, at their shop at the Stead airport.  The date has not been confirmed, as yet.

NEW BUSINESS

Give our Proxy to Steve Kennedy

Steve Kennedy contacted the club (he is our SW Regional JCNA Representative).  He wanted to know if we were sending any members to the 2007 Houston AGM.  He requested that if we were not sending a RJC representative, would we like to assign our proxy to him?  As no members indicated they were going to Houston, all present agreed to assign him the club’s proxy for this year.

Reno Historic Races

Patti Wilder said the Reno Historic Races are scheduled May 4-6 at the Reno-Fernley Raceway.  It is a celebration of wheels and wings.  This year’s event will honor Reno’s own Tony Settember, former Formula One racer from the 1960’s and the H Modified Reunion.  As there are 6 pilots in the Club, there may be interest in participating.  Patti will get a hold of Rich Cable to see if he could arrange a special section for us to display our Jaguars like he did last year.

Membership

Harry Keast noted that he will be closing the membership at this time and sending the registered members names to the JCNA.  Anyone who has not paid their dues this year, will be dropped from the roster.  People can still sign up even after the initial closing.  He asked that anyone who does not have a badge to let him know, and he will place an order for them.

Treasurer’s Report

Dave Minedew reported that currently the operating account balance is $4,935.  Mike Johnson has requested that approximately $1,000 be transferred to the “A Day on the Village Green” account for expenses for the upcoming event.  A vote was held and all members present agreed to the transfer.

Membership Motivator

President Gary Dyer has a suggestion to increase turnout for club functions.  He proposed that at each meeting, a name would be drawn from the membership.  If that person is in attendance, he or she will receive $20 cash for the first drawing.  If no one wins the $20.00 then $10.00 will be added until the pot is won. Then it starts at $20.00 again. Patti Wilder made a motion for the Club to adopt the suggestion.  Dave Minedew seconded it.  All members present were in favor.  Patti said that this would replace an earlier suggestion to hold progressive Bingo games.

Garage Sale

A garage sale will be held May 19th in the Saddlehorn area.  Members were invited to bring items to sell.  The money made from this sale will go into the RJC treasury.

There will be in impromptu BBQ after the sale.

Jay Leno show

John Wittrig asked for a show of hands for those who are interested in going to the Jay Leno show.  He noted, however, that there might not be an opportunity to visit Jay’s car and motorcycle collection this time.  He will personally discuss this with Jay Leno. John mentioned that he should have more information in about a week.  John also asked Patti to make copies of the group photo taken on the last trip. These should be available at the next RJC dinner meeting.

Trivia Question

The trivia question was how do you now get to the RJC website.  The winner was Mike Glass.  Others who answered correctly were Jane & Jack Mitchell, Sam Dibitonto, Iain and Wendy Buxton and Gerard Gara.  The move to the new address has provided more web space and is less expensive.  The home page now shows the number of times the RJC Webpage has been viewed.

Other Business

Gary Dyer called for a collection of fines for those who had no nametag or did not drive a Jag to the dinner.

John Wittrig introduced his guest Jim Alder, who was a Jag Club member for many years, and was one of the original members of the Club.

The raffle items, provided by Mike and Kathy Glass were won as follows:

Jane Mitchell – a Jag blanket for the car

Mike Johnson – A plush Jaguar

Debbie McMurtrey and John Wittrig – a “race car driver”

Patti Wilder – a Jag blanket for the car
