RJC Dinner/Meeting
At the Browning’s Home

September 15, 2007

Thank you Russ & Judy Browning for hosting the RJC September 15, 2007 dinner/meeting at your lovely home.  I bet your neighbors were jealous when they saw all the beautiful Jaguar’s lined up in front of your house!  They didn’t know that you associated with all these highfalutin people!  Just kidding!

Russ and Judy prepared tri-tip and Kielbasa sausages.  Other members brought the side dishes.  Carolyn Manchester brought tortilla roll-ups as an appetizer, Judy Browning made a South West relish, Mina Dibitonto brought a delicious potato/dill salad, Mike Glass & Kathy Glass brought “Hobo” beans and a marinated cucumber salad, Nancy Price brought a tasty tomato pie.  Patti Wilder brought her homemade apple pies for dessert.  No one went away hungry.

Don Thompson, Snowshoe, went around gathering everyone’s plate who were finished with his or her dinner, one lady called out to him by saying, “will you marry me!”  Snowshoe is going to be hired as our “bus boy” for any up coming dinners.

There was a short meeting after dinner. Patti and the club members thanked Russ and Judy for there hard work in hosting this dinner.

Our newest members were welcomed. They were Nancy & Bob Price, Harry & Anita Hart and Don, (Snowshoe) & Norma Thompson.  It was wonderful to see them here.

Patti asked if anyone had any old business to discuss.  No one seemed to have any.  The next topic was the upcoming October dinner/meeting.  Patti along with Mike & Kathy Glass (our Social Directors) wanted to present an idea to the club to get their reaction on doing a “Murder Mystery” dinner to go along with the October Halloween theme.  It was overwhelming response to do this.

What is a Murder Mystery Dinner you might ask?  These will be prepackaged games, a different game for each table of 8 people.  These games come with a murder theme such as: “A Murder on the Grill” or “Lethal Luau” to mention a couple of the games we will play.  As it says on the game box, “Everyone’s a suspect when murder is on the menu. These games come with everything you need to serve up mystery, murder and fun!”  Each person will be given a pre-assigned character in the murder mystery played at his or her table.  The object is to figure out who at your table is the murderer.  Each person/character will be given a script to read at the dinner.  This is a self-guided game so need to worry about what to say or do.  Just come and have FUN!

Example (A Murder on the Grill game):
“Johnny Angle, a mechanic who can fix anything on wheels.  When he’s not covered in engine grease, Johnny is cruisin’ chicks in his 57 Chevy”– (It should say his 1969 XKE!).
”Costume Suggestion: Black leather jacket, white t-shirt (with blood-like red spot), tight jeans, slicked hair and dark sunglasses.  Fake switchblade.”

Shortly you be will be sent the normal October dinner/meeting invitation. This invitation will let you know the restaurant and date of this dinner.  Don Thompson suggested we go to “Silver Peak” for this October’s dinner/meeting.  Patti will look into this.

When you reply and say “YOU ARE GOING”, Patti will assign you a table to sit at and that table’s murder theme along with your character’s name, background information and costume suggestions.  It is a lot of fun to come in costume but you DO NOT have to.

Next on tonight’s meeting agenda was the trip to Europe that was brought up at the July dinner/meeting. This is being called, “For the DRIVE of Your Life! Self drive Auto Tour in Europe” planned for mid September 2008.  There will be a meeting on October 9th to discuss this in detail with our travel agent, Cynthia Langhof from AAA Travel.  Please watch your emails for the exact time and place of this informational meeting.  Please refer to the July 07 Dinner notes to see the details of this trip.

Dave Mindew gave Patti the Treasury information to share with the club.

Mike and Kathy didn’t have anything new to discuss.

Meeting was adjourned.

A raffle took place after the meeting. It was the “Furry Jaguar Purse” raffle!  For those of you who don’t know what this is, here is how this works.  This has been going on now for about 3 years.  The Jag purse either has a prize in it or a note to what the prize is.  Usually it is something outstanding.  Past years it was a rolling cooler, margarita set, pitcher and four margarita glasses, a gift basket that included a bottle of wine and lots of goodies, a dinner gift certificate to Adele’s in Carson City and this time it was a $40.00 gift certificate to Rapsacillions!  Whoever wins the “Purse” has to be the next person to give something away.  There is no set time to do this raffle.  It is up to the person in custody of the “purse” to choose when and where they want to do this.
