RJC Dinner/Meeting
At the Browning’s Home
August 8, 2008
Host for this dinner were Russell and Judy Browning. They
graciously opened there home to the RJC for a dinner of hamburgers and hotdogs.
Members brought a quite a variety of side dishes. Thank you everyone for all
your time and contributions in making this an evening to remember. The weather
even cooperated. High winds were predicted for the evening but they did not
materialize - yeah!
Points of discussion:
President Larry Richardson opened the meeting by thanking the Brownian's for
hosting this August RJC dinner meeting.
He went on to welcome and introduce our many guest.
We had a surprise visit from some of our RJC founding members, Dick and Lynne
Mackintosh!!! They moved away a few years ago to Costa RJC and were here
visiting Tony and Terry Mitchell. It was Great to see them again.
A member we have not seen in quite a while, Bob Melrose and his daughter Dee,
came as well. Welcome back Bob.
It had been a long time since we saw our members Bob and Nancy Price and Sherron
& Jeff Egner. Again it was nice to see you at this dinner/meeting.
Trip to Washington, California:
Larry turned the floor over to Sherron & Jeff Egner to discuss the upcoming
trip to where they have a cabin. They have invited the RJC to come a weekend of
fun, sun and fellowship.
The Egner's have a very nice secluded beach area near their cabin that we can
all hang out at and swim in. They also mentioned that for those of us who want a
little more adventure can go on a 4 hour hike to the 5 lakes on the trail to
Grouse Ridge then go back to their place for swimming and dinner.
They would like members to stay at the Historic Washington Hotel.
Hotel Details:
There are just 14 rooms at the hotel, and the rates vary from $175 for the
Honeymoon suite, $115 for a room with a bath, #1 is the Grover Cleveland room
for $70 per night and the rest are $60 per night, with a bathroom down the hall.
All are "open" at this writing.

Europe Trip:
Cynthia Langhof spoke to the members about the upcoming RJC September
Europe trip. This trip is rapidly approaching and there is still room available
if anyone would still like to join in.
Car Badge:
It was reported that the car badge and lapel pin are the RJC's 25th
Anniversary is in production! Iain Buxton, is the person to thank for these
memorial badges. He took this project upon himself. He presented his idea's to
the board who in turn showed them to the RJC members. A vote was taken and a
badge was chosen. Iain then proceed to find a manufacturer and now they are
being produced. They should be ready for purchase by the end of September. The
RJC is also in the planning stages of a special celebration to be held in
either October or November to mark this historic day in our club's history.
Christmas Party:
Mina Dibitonto gave an update on the upcoming RJC Christmas Dinner. It will
be on December 6, 2008, at the Hidden Valley Country Club. Thanks to Sam's
connections she was able to reserve this classy place and date for this special
dinner. She also said that this dinner will be a buffet and that this will be a
formal affair. She went on to say she has lined up a band so that we will have
live music and dancing.
Western States JCNA Meet:
Mike Glass and Charlie and Carolyn Manchester represented the RJC at this
elegant event. The event was on July 28 through August 2nd and was held in Grand
Junction, Colorado. They gave the RJC an impressive name by taking six awards.
Reno club did a fantastic job earning best in class two times and Charlie earned
two awards for the slalom competition. WAY TO GO!!!

Vice President's Report:
Patti Wilder didn't have much to say, what a surprise :>) She explained to
the new members what "Tag-a-Jag" were and passed them out to people who wanted
some
Treasurer/Secretary's Reports:
There was no report as our treasurer and secretary, Dave & Sunny Minedew,
are on vacation
Chief Judge Report:
Gerard Garra did not have anything new to report
Webmaster's Report:
Rich Wilder the RJC webmaster reminded our members to please review the
RJC webpage because he has added many new items for the club to review.
He also mentioned the next dinner meeting that will be sponsored by Sunny and
Dave Minedew. It will be at Zephyr Cove. Members will be getting an invitation
via email and USPS mail shortly with the details. It was requested that if any
members want to spend the night at Zephyr Cove Lodge to make reservations now as
this area fills up really fast this time of year
Closing Remarks/Announcements:
Mike Glass reminded the club that the next day, Saturday, August 9th, there
was a 36th anniversary Lake Tahoe Concours featuring wooden boats from the
1920's. He said he had arranged to have special parking for our Jaguars.. Anyone
interested in going should meet him at the Starbucks in Galena Shopping Mall at
8:30 AM.
Harry Hart mentioned that his good friend will be hosting a concourse called,
"Desert Classic Concours de Elegance" It will be held sometime in March 2009 in
Scottsdale, Arizona. He is encouraging our members to take part.
Rich Wilder thanked Larry Richardson for bringing "the wine cellar!"
Larry Richardson asked if anyone had a way of contacting Tony Settember because
he had a party interested in contacting him. Harry Keast had this information.
Larry Richardson along with the group thanked Russ and Judy Browning for doing a
fabulous job hosting this August RJC dinner/meeting.
Larry adjourned the meeting.
