March Dinner Meeting
Palais de Jade
Friday, March 14, 2008
The March 2008 Reno Jaguar Club meeting was held at the Palais de Jade in
Reno. There were 29 members in attendance (Guests George and Marje Tabor joined
up at the meeting) . It was a fabulous dinner that started off with Sizzling
Rice Soup prepared at the table, followed by tempura shrimp, spring rolls,
special chicken in foil and then a huge platter of barbecued ribs. A lot of us
were about filled up already and they they started bringing dishes of food:
duck, mushrooms with beef, huge shrimp with broccoli, huge shrimp with glazed
walnut, and four other main courses besides rice and fried rice. There was a lot
left over that was boxed up for members to take home if they wanted.
Introductions were made. New members Belmont and Joan Reid have rejoined the
Club after a few years absence. He brought a stack of RENO Jaguar Club CAT TALKs
from the 90-91 period. We will make copies to pass around at the next meeting,
not wanting to endanger the original copies that Belmont brought. There was a
reunion of sorts when Rex told us a story about a guy named Belmont Reid he knew
in a British car club a hundred years ago in California-Belmont confirmed he was
one and the same.
An abbreviated club business meeting was held and the meting was adjourned. In
all, it was a great social gathering at a great place for dinner. Our thanks to
Nancy and Bob Price for the successful event.
The 50/50 for $40 was won by Mick and Lani Collins. the JAG BAG was won by the
Hamiltons.
Mike Glass spoke regarding the
AUTOEXOTICA : CARS & COFFEE event at the Starbuck's 191 Damonte Ranch Pkwy in
Reno from 9:00am to 10:30am on Sunday (Drive after event) & the fact that we
were invited again. Same holds true for The Historic Races at Fernley and The
Wooden Boat Concours at Lake Tahoe. Mike's had e-mail contact with them and will
get more as the event are more organized and have official press releases ready.
Check http://autoexotica.org/ for more
information and to sign up for their mailing list.
The next meeting will be hosted by Mick and Lani at Butcher Boy's in Reno.
