January 9, 2009 On January 9, 2009 the Reno Jaguar Club had their first dinner meeting of the year at Palais de Jade in Reno, Nevada. Thirty five RJC members attended along with one guest, Janice Hamilton's daughter, Julie. The RJC gave her a warm welcome. After the delicious meal a 40/60 raffle was held - 40% of the monies collected went to the winner and 60% of the monies went into the club treasury. Iain Buxton was the lucky winner. The club treasury made $65.00! Larry Richardson welcomed everyone and turned the floor over to various other speakers for the meeting part of this dinner. Iain Buxton stated that a person in Ohio saw our RJC Anniversary car badges on our website and purchased on. He also said that he still had some badges and members could go to our website to place their order The La Jolla Jaguar Club invited our club and other clubs to their Valentine's Party. Any interested member is invited to go. Patti Wilder gave the pictures she took, as a gift, to all the couples who attended the Christmas party. Mike Glass told us that the Reno Jaguar Club is NOW FAMOUS! He said he submitted an article about the RJC's trip to Europe to the JCNA Jaguar Magazine. The article was 3 pages long with wonderful pictures detailing the trip. NICE JOB MIKE!!! The RJC received a letter from the National Automobile Museum thanking us for our generous donation of $250.00.
There was a large and sometimes heated discussion about the JCNA new rules
concerning the ability to tow a Driven Class Jaguar to a concours event.
Iain and Ron Pizer commented that some cars cannot go over 40 miles per hour so
would be very difficult to get to an event if not towed. Iain proposed
that we give our proxy vote to our South West JCNA Representative, Steve
Kennedy, and have him vote to allow cars being trailered. It was brought
up that it says nothing about not trailering it to the hotel and THEN driving it
to the concours. Randy Wright chimed in and said that in 2007 the rules
said that you needed to drive your car onto the site and that the driven cars
could not be towed there. Randy asked Gerard Garra to find the correct
document and to send it to all the members to straighten this hearsay out. Subject: Proposed rule changes for Driven towing requirements:
As a follow up from the dinner meeting on January
9, here are the rules as they are written concerning the ability to tow a Driven
class Jaguar to a Concours event.
(Current Rule) Entries to be Driven to their
Assigned Parking Positions / Trailering Mike Johnson said he was actively looking for a site to host this year's "A Day on the Village Green". He said the place we had it last time, The Cal Neva Resort/Casino was in receivership and would not be available for this event. He had other ideas such as, Van Halle (spelling) Estate in California or possibly Camp Richardson near Lake Tahoe. Randy Wright proposed the new ball park that is being constructed in the Reno area. He said it may be available when the home team was at an away game. He also said there would be great parking, big expanse to park our cars, centrally located for out of town guests. Other places mentioned were: Thunderbird Hotel and Rainbow Lodge.
The 2008 RJC Board Members were thanked for a job well done and the new board
was introduced. The new 2009 Board members are:
A board meeting was proposed to be held in a few weeks. Gary Dyer gave the Treasurer's report since Dave Minedew was absent. Tony Fakonas told the club that Rich Wilder was doing an EXCELLENT job as webmaster Patti Wilder passed out "dinner kits" to all the members who would be hosting the upcoming dinner meetings.
