Reno Jaguar Club
Dinner Meeting
On Friday May 8th, 2009 some 30+ members of The Reno Jaguar Club
met at Lakeridge Golf Course’s 19th Hole Restaurant for our
monthly dinner/meeting. We were treated to some great food
including salad, bread, and choices of chicken, steak, or
Salmon. Dessert consisted of Apple Pie. After dinner President
Mike Glass informed the club of some upcoming events including
the United British Sports Car Club of Sacramento and their meet
at Woodland, CA. Several members including Mike and Kathy
Glass, Ron and Julie Pizer, Charlie and Carolyn Manchester are
already registered and Iain and Wendy Buxton are contemplating
the road trip. Also upcoming is our own event, “A Day on The
Village Green”. Mike asked for volunteers for several
committees and several members stepped up to help make it work.
Mike also reminded club members about the 25th Anniversary Club badges Iain Buxton has designed and that there are plenty left. Several members are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries in the month of May. Gary Dyer on the 14th, Harry Keast on the 25th, and Tony and Terry Mitchell celebrate their wedded bliss in the month of May. We had two guests at dinner, Tony and Terry Mitchell’s daughter Natalie, who was our photographer for the night and her husband Randy Brown. After dinner Mike and Kathy helped out the club’s coffers with a raffle, won by Carl and Liz Feutsch. It was gift donated by Ron Pizer, a nice detail kit. Thanks, Ron and congrats Carl, now you can get busy cleaning that pretty red car that made its first appearance at a function since a re-do! Very Nice Carl! Larry Richardson won a new Reno Jaguar Club Baseball Hat. After dinner Kathy Glass distributed the shirts that had been ordered and they look great! Please e-mail or call Mike to order more. Harry Keast and Mick Collins offered club members a ride in their planes for the next morning. I hope to see pictures and a small report later. Harry Keast also spoke about the short video shot at The Historic Races at Reno-Fernley Raceway from the previous weekend. This was broadcast on KNPB; Reno’s PBS Station and will be broadcast again on Sunday May 10th at 6:30pm and again on Monday May 11th at 10:30pm. I just watched it after recording it and it features an interview with long-time fellow Jaguar enthusiast and member James Alder and his 1952 XK120. Please try to tune in as it features our hobby. Vice President Larry Richardson has offered an instructional class to teach the club to shoot firearms as many club members enjoy shooting, details to come and it’s open to both men and women.
