2010 Christmas Party
Genoa Lakes Golf Club
Genoa, NV
On December 4, 2010, the Reno Jaguar Club once again held their annual Christmas
party at Genoa Lakes Golf Club. Gerard Garra and Lola were the RJC organizers
along with Marie, from Genoa Lakes for this dinner. This venue has never
disappointed us. Sue Johnson volunteered her time and energy to design & place
the table centerpieces. They were exceptionally nice and festive. Many members
wanted to take them home but Sue decided to save these for future Christmas
dinners.
Genoa Lakes does not charge us a room charge nor a set up charge like so many
other places do especially this time of year. The party is fully staffed with
hard working, friendly employees. There is a warm fireplace with a sofa and
chairs to sit on, a large eating area where we have plenty of room to walk
around the tables. We even have a beautiful wooden bar area with a bartender to
attend to our special beverages. Some of us brought our own wine and were not
charged a corkage fee, unheard of in so many other places. The banquet room has
a fabulous view of the golf course and the Sierra Mountains. The food is
consistently delicious. Where else could we get this quality for this price?
Only detail that we wish we could change would be the distance. Many members
make this an even more special event by spending the night at various bed and
breakfast's in the area. If anyone is looking for a place to stay in Genoa, I
can personally recommend the Wild Rose
Inn run by the owner Sue Knight. She is the BEST hostess around!
After mingling and a scrumptious dinner Gerard had a few more surprise in store
for us. Everyone was asked to bring a gift for another couple. He put every
couple's name into a basket. Then he pulled a couple's name out of the basket
and they would then come up and take a present of their choice thinking this was
the gift they would get to keep....WRONG! After all the presents were given out
it was time to play a game. Patti Wilder asked everyone to form a circle while
holding the gift they had just received. She then read a Christmas Story. The
story had the words "Right" and "Left" throughout. Everyone was to shift the
present that they were holding to the direction just mentioned. This got to be
crazy at times with lots of laughs and giggles. At the end of the story everyone
(couples) holding a gift got to keep it. Not sure how much cheating went on but
everyone was happy!Gerard had one more surprise up his sleeve -
a raffle! Our new members Gayle and Steve Picha were the winners. They each got
a Jaguar print Snuggie! We had them model these for us. Please review the
pictures.
Members also generously donated gifts for the Children's Cabinet and food for
the Evelyn Mount food drive. Thank you Mike and Kathy Glass for taking on these
activities. This is always appreciated by our community.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
See you next year -
