January 8, 2010
China East
Reno
On Friday
eve, January 8, 2010, the Reno Jaguar Club met for its first dinner meeting of
TWENTY-TEN! As has become our custom, we sampled Chinese fare. Patti and Rich
Wilder arranged and hosted the event at the China East Restaurant, and we
thank them heartily for their efforts. A nearly full complement of members
turned out on a chilly damp evening, but it was worth the trip. New Year’s
greetings were made all around and friends got caught up on Holiday activities.
We enjoyed dining and visiting at table rounds of eight. We were served many
tasty dishes, and some found new favorites among them (lemon scallops, anyone?)
As we
concluded our meals, our 2010 President (and Schoolmaster) George Tabor arose to
welcome all. He began by thanking the RJC Board of 2009 for their service, and
then introduced the 2010 Board:
Vice-President: Patti Wilder
Secretary: Wendy Buxton
Treasurer: Dave Minedew (reprising his 2009 and years’ previous role)
Membership Chairman: Harry Keast (ditto)
Concours Chairman: Mike Glass
Chief Judge: Gerard Garra
Web-Master: Rich Wilder, who has expertly sustained “the best li’l web-site in
the whole JCNA” for years!
George
recapped the discussion held during the January 2, 2010 Board meeting, whose
minutes are found on our web-site.
2010
Activities and Events: The membership seemed to concur with the ideas floated
by the Board.
Increasing
Club exposure and fund-raising : the ideas presented from the Board discussion
were met with approval. No further suggestions were offered.
George
reminded all that the next tech session would occur the next morning (1/10/10)
at Gary Dyer’s home garage. Of course, all are welcome.
Harry, on
behalf of membership, thanked those who have paid their 2010 dues, and continued
to threaten the “slackers” with presentation of a “unique Jaguar automobile”
(which, for some inexplicable reason, is coveted by Kathy Dyer). Patti has
tri-fold Club brochures: take as many as you like, but ou need to fold them
yourselves.
Dave
provided the Treasurer’s report of the Operating and DVG account balances
($2331.00 and $1237.00 respectively). Discussion of reimbursement to Iain for
Club badges designed and purchased was deferred to the Board.
Patti:
Thanked all who have signed up to host monthly dinner meetings in 2010.
They are:

March: Pat and Harry Keast
April: George and Marje Tabor
May: Mike and Sue Johnson
June: Pat and Jack Campbell
July: Dixie and Rex Black
August: Terry and Tony Mitchell
September: Lani and Mitch Collins
November: Joan and Belmont Reid
December: Gerard has already reserved Saturday December 4th, at
Genoa Lakes
Patti also
said she has sold a number of RJC badges on e-bay, and hopes for more sales.
She also
passed around complimentary couples’ photos from the Genoa Christmas party.
Thank you very much Patti, for your thoughtfulness!
George:
There being no new business to discuss, our meeting is adjourned.
Happy New
Year all !!
