La Vecchia
Reno, NV The June dinner meeting of the Reno Jaguar Club commenced Friday
evening at La Vecchia Italian Restaurant. Our evening's hosts Jack
and Pat Campbell greeted and welcomed all arrivees. We spent a lovely
hour of socializing and enjoying a libation, or two, while catching up
on the lives of fellow club members. Terry Mitchell appeared tanned
and relaxed after visiting former RJC members, Lynn and Dick MacIntosh
at their Costa Rica retreat.Everyone wished Pat Keast a happy birthday which
was the following day. Ron and Julie have a new "car barn" at
Incline, and Julie is busy decorating the house that is incidentally
attached to it. It was great to see Rich and Patti, who have been
traveling here and there, but are now back in the fold. Julie's
daughter Chelsea stopped in with tickets to the Taste of Reno event,
to be held Sunday July 11, featuring boutique California wines for
tasting at the Automobile Museum; a compelling combination. Proceeds
to benefit the Rotary Club programs. Chelsea, a UNR student, has
been president of the Rotaract Club, which is a professional club
for young adults.Along with socializing, members browsed the eclectic collection of
items brought in for the fun, fund-raising, raffle. Following a delicious four-course meal, Patti Wilder opened the Club
business meeting. Patti, is acting President in George Tabor's
absence, as he and Marje are away preparing for retirement to their
home in Oklahoma. As we all know (and very much appreciate) , Patti
has been the creative engine of this club for a long time, so George
has left us in very capable hands!
Our guests were introduced by Patti and welcomed by the Club: Steve
and Gayle Pich; Randy's Wright's guest Vesna; and Helen, who was brought by Joan
Shonnard. Steve and Gayle are
planning to join the Club!Patti shared an email from the Sacramento Jag Club, who proposed a
meet and greet, and suggested three venues: Donner State Park,
Truckee; the Rainbow Lodge at Norden off Hwy 80; or somewhere in
South Lake Tahoe. She asked us to make our preference known. The Sacramentan's have also invited us to join them at the Infineon Classic
Sports Car Races in Sonoma, October 1-3. They will rent a bus from
Sacramento to take everyone there. We need to let them know of our
interest with a tentative head count. More info on the cost, which
will include the bus fare, group tickets and raceway perks will be
forthcoming. You can email Patti with your choice of meeting venue,
and if you wish to go to Infineon."A really nifty badge!": that was the opinion of one of Patti's
eBay
Atlanta, GA, purchasers of our RJC car badge. We now have badges on
cars in a variety of places, including New Zealand.Sunny and Dave are busy arranging the day road trip to Big Springs
Gardens in Sierra City, CA. Commitments and payment were due by June
12. If you were not able to make your reservations with the Minedew's you still
can if you do this ASAP!This month's Tech Session takes place Saturday morning, June 12, at
Gary Dyer's home. Mike Johnson will be providing expert advice and
demo on carburetion.Patti asked for suggestions for a location for a Club slalom
event... Members have their thinking caps on.Dave, Club Treasurer, reports $3721.26 in the general fund and $427 in
the ADOTVG fund. Patti then reminded all that this evening's fun raffle
event is designed to help feed the Club coffers.
Harry reported no news on membership. When asked about the spring
motorcycle ride Harry answered with a resounding "I duh-know!"The July dinner will be hosted by Rex and
Dixie Black at the Gold Dust
West Casino in Carson City, Saturday July 11, with social time at 6:30
an dinner at 7:30. You can book a room and have a leisurely drive
home the next day, if you like. The Club thanked the La Vecchia staff for excellent service. There being no further business, the meeting was concluded. Patti and Julie then drew and read the winning numbers for the
re-gifting raffle. It seems that everyone benefitted from this clever
way to re-gift, recycle, re-use and restore the club's piggy bank!
