RJC Dinner Meeting
Red's Old 365 Grill
May 14, 2010

The May Reno Jaguar Club monthly dinner meeting was held at Red's Old 395 Grill in Carson City, on Friday May 14, 2010. The dinner and evening was organized by Mike and Sue Johnson, to whom were are indebted for a very gastronomically pleasing meal in a fun atmosphere. Thank you Sue and Mike for all your efforts! The evening was mild and the skies clear, so the cats came out to prowl. Ron Piser and friend, Mark, challenged their hardiness with a top-down ride from Incline Village in Ron's E-type. Charlie and Carolyn Manchester arrived in their 1956 aluminum- body custom Rolls Royce of the richest and purest shade of white imaginable. What a beauty! Winston was happy to stretch his paws through Washoe Valley, and looked sooo good doing it. President George brought a buddy, Chip, who told us about the British T-Bird club in England. Others who were able to join us: Sam and Mina Dibitonto, Toni and Terry Mitchell, Rex and Dixie Black, Jack and Pat Campbell, Larry and Ellie Richardson, Mike and Sue's daughter, and the newer members, Larry and Shirley MacNeil. We were a smaller group, but no less festive. Please forgive me if I have not named everyone; I'm relying on my not-infallible (so Iain tells me) memory.

After a sumptuous dinner and good conversation, President George called the meeting to order. Reading of the minutes were dispensed with, as they are available to all on the web-site. Guests were introduced by their members, and welcomed: Chip, by George, and Mark by Ron. Ongoing items discussed:

1) The concours d'Elegance at Serrano in El Dorado Hills will be in October. More info will be made available. There seems to be much interest in attending and representing our club there.

2) George has talked again with Bob Olson, President of the Sacramento Jag Club. They have discussed several locations for a joint meet, and are looking at mid-summer, or into Sept-Oct.

3) Mike Glass and Tony Fakonas are working to gain SCCA interest in our summertime slalom competition (date and location yet to be decided).

4) Mike Johnson spoke about possibly getting former (and honorary) member race driver Davy Jones to run a driving clinic for our members. Davy is a world-class racer, as you can read in this article from the January Nevada Appeal: http://www.nevadaappeal.com/article/20100123/SPORTS/100129787. How fortunate we are to have access to such talent!

5) Mike also tells us that Tony is planning another Tech Session at Gary's Stead location in late May, in which carburetors will be the subject.

6) In the absence of Dave Minedew, the Treasurer's report was deferred. Dave and Sunny have arranged a late June trip to Big Springs Gardens near Sierra City, so Larry passed around the flyers. They will need a firm head count and payment by our June 12 dinner meeting; which, by the way, will be hosted by Jack and Pat Campbell, who have chosen a favorite spot: La Vecchia Italian Restaurant at So. Virginia and Moana Lane. Look for your invitations!

7) Charlie shared the trip to the Western States meet that he and Carolyn made to Santa Maria, CA. He is proud to report that his Mark II, gained a third in its class against very stiff competition. Congratulations Charlie and Carolyn for once again representing our little club in a very classy way!

8) Ron reminded members of this weekend's events in the area, including a show in Silver Springs (Dayton airfield?) on Saturday; and the vintage cars auction at the Reno/Sparks Convention Center on Saturday, also.

9) Our guest, Chip, rose to invite the club to the Celtic celebration at Bartley Ranch in early October. We are welcome to display our beautiful vehicles in that lovely setting.

There being no further old or new business, it was moved and seconded to adjourn our meeting.
