The European Food Emporium
Reno

The Autumnal Gathering (October dinner meeting) took place Friday evening at The European Food Emporium.  Carl Fuetsch was our host for the event.  Liz was away visiting family and participating in a wedding.  Eight lucky diners were treated to a sumptuously prepared meal of antelope which had been taken by Carl's son, who is a nationally-ranked rifleman.  The remainder of us did very nicely, thank you, with generous steaks or chicken breasts.  We began with fennel salad and concluded with a Pear Pavlova.  With beverages of our choice, all appeared to have thoroughly enjoyed the fare.  Thank you, Carl, for putting together a very pleasurable evening.  And further thanks to your son for sharing the bounty of his expert marksmanship!

President George called the meeting to order, and opened by noting that ten RJC cars were represented at the recent Celtic Celebration held at Bartley Ranch.  Many thanks to Randy Wright for setting up this event for the club and bringing his three wonderful cars.  And thanks to the members who came out in the sun on Saturday and the rain on Sunday to support the Celtic Celebration.

Iain was asked to share the experience at the Ironstone Concours d' Elegance in Murphys.  He described the beautiful venue and reported that "Winston" and Charlie and Carolyn's Rolls Royce, and Jeff and Sharon Egner's 1948 Mark IV all garnered award ribbons "of Merit".  Gary Dyer did offer an opinion about the "quaintness" of the judging there.  Nevertheless, a wonderful weekend was enjoyed and documented in photos you may see here on the web-site.  Wendy presented to President George, the car badge and lapel pin of the Sacramento Jaguar Club which was received in our meet-and-greet with Natalie Olson, her husband Bob, and other SJC members.  Patti is reciprocating to them with our RJC pin and badge.  Kathy shared her and Patti's experience of riding in the Phantom Corsair from the Harrah's Collection which was the Ironstone signature event car and appeared on the program cover, as well as the specially etched wine bottles sold at auction.  George asked for input about preferences for the day of the week for our dinner meetings.  Some have suggested that Saturday may be easier for many.  Belmont then rose to announce that the November dinner meeting will be held on Saturday, November 13, at the Carson Valley Country Club south of Gardnerville.

Treasurer's report: "The Club is solvent".  General account: $2853.99; DOTVG account: $427.49.  He will make a proposal to the Executive Committee that the Club provide recognition of the time and effort contributed by the Web-Master and the DOTVG Coordinator; perhaps by paying the annual membership dues for each.

The meeting was opened to discussion.  Sam said that his granddaughter was married recently, and the bridesmaids all rode in Jaguars.  New members, Debra and Connal Berry were again welcomed to the club.  Gary Dyer, proud new owner of a "cat in lederhosen"...SLS AMG Gull Wing Mercedes, provided some of the amazing specs on the car: 6.3-liter V8 cranking out 563 horsepower, torrid acceleration, 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, and 60 to zero in 98 feet!

No one being able to top that, the meeting was adjourned.
