Reno
Mick and Lani Collins were the organizers of this dinner meeting. They
picked Firkin & Wolf restaurant in South Reno. A very nice choice! 36+
members and guests were in attendance. Thank you Lani and Mick.
Excellent job!
George Tabor is back from his visit to his home in Oklahoma. Welcome back
George, You were MISSED!
The meeting was started after everyone had eaten their delicious dinners.
Jack Campbell got everyone's attention.
George introduced our newest members, Connal and Deborah Berry, and welcomed our
special guest, Mark & Sherry Pipoly, friends
of Anita & Harry Hart.
Sam Dibitonto, Rex Black and Debbie McMurtrey were wished happy September
birthdays and Kathy and Gary Dyer were wished a
happy anniversary this month as well.
Old business:
- A Day on the Village Green location was discussed. Charlie Manchester
proposed that we have this event at Squaw Valley. The RJC is still looking
for a venue for this event which will be next year.
- The 2010 Ironstone Concours d’ Elegance will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010 in Murphy's California. Quite a few RJC members will be showing
their cars. The Sacramento Jaguar Club will also be present and wish to
meet us! Natalie, the Sacramento club's VP of Activities, has asked that
we meet them at the Jaguar Exhibit area between the hours of 1:00 PM and 3:00
PM. on Sat. Sept. 25th. They will bring their club
tri-pod sign and has asked everyone to wear Jaguar gear, shirts, hats, etc., and
name tags. George had maps and coupons for $2.00 off for this event.
New Business:
- George Tabor mentioned the "Marin British Fall Classic Tour". This is also
on Sept. 25, 2010. All British cars and bikes are welcome. If
interested you are to meet at Fairfax Java Hut on 760 Center Blvd, Fairfax,
California.
- President George asked if any club members had anything to share.
- Randy Wright and George Tabor, a member of The Sierra Highlanders Pipe Band, told
the club that on October 2 & 3, 2010 at Bartley Ranch there will be the
20th Annual Celtic Celebration with Pipe Band, Celtic Musicians, Highland
Games, Scottish and Irish Dancers, Celtic Vendors and More. Randy and
George would love to see a large turnout with our jaguars at this fun event.
If you display your car the $10.00 entry fee will be waived

- Charlie Manchester mentioned a train event at Benbow in Eureka, Northern
California. This is the train that Governors and Presidents take for
stage stops.
- Harry Hart mentioned that he and his wife, Anita, went to the Harrah's Automobile
Museum and were pleased to discover that since they were RJC members they got
free admission. Thank you Harry for reminding our club about this perk.
- George Tabor asked for volunteers who had convertibles to help Spanish Springs
High School with their Home Coming to be held next Friday, Sept. 17th.
He said that cars were needed to transport the homecoming queen and her court
around the football field. George stated that another car club was to do
this but as of today's date they had not confirmed. George then told the
school that the Reno Jaguar Club would step up and help out these kids! Four or
five cars will be needed. George said that he should know on Monday, Sept. 13th if we are needed or not. George is working on incentives.
Volunteers/cars are asked to be at Spanish Springs High School by 6:30 PM and
will leave no later then half time to avoid the crowd. So ALL of you who
have convertible Jags PLEASE VOLUNTEER to help these high school kids!
- Kathy Glass had a message from her husband, Mike. She said that Mike is
working in an area where there is very limited computer or cell phone access.
Mike is the chair for the "A Day on the Village Green". Kathy wanted
everyone to know that if they call her or email her she will make sure Mike gets
those messages but there will be a delay in his reply.
- Vice President, Patti Wilder, wanted to let the club know that our honorary
member, race car driver, Davy Jones was going to be competing in the Grand AM
at Miller Motorsports in Tooele, Utah on Saturday, Sept 11, 2010 . He will
be driving a Lola car, number 16. GO DAVY!!!
- Harry Keast had nothing new to report on membership.
- Please check your email for info on the October dinner/meeting to be hosted by
Carl and Liz Fuesch.
