1st 2005 RJC Board Meeting

The 1st board meeting will be held on January 5th at Amelia's Restaurant at 11:30 AM - all are welcome.

Note: Date change for the RJC Board meeting. It will be on January 6th at 11:30 at Amelia's Restaurant in their conference room

Just like last year I am sure this new board will work very well together.  Everyone in this wonderful jaguar club is always ready to help!

Let's ALL make a promise to this Reno Jaguar Club to make a greater effort in doing more club activities in the coming year.  More cruises, more tours, and more tech sessions.  We can't do this without everyone making a true effort to come.  EVERYONE of you is important in making each of these events happen!  I for one am looking forward to this new year with the RJC!

Points of discussion:

How often do we want to get together for board meetings?

Where? Every other month at Amelia's.  Board Members to buy their own lunches.

Will on-line board meeting/decisions work as well?
Yes, will try to have an on-line meeting every other month opposite the live meetings at Amelia's.

How can we incorporate more CAR related themes at the dinner meetings -

One way would be to have a Tech. Director floor questions from the members at these dinner meetings.

Have members tell about their cars.  Members who didn't bring their car to the dinner or forgot their badge that night will be the 1st to be asked about their cars

Fine members $1.00 if they say the name of any other car except "JAGUAR"

Does anyone know any speakers? -

General opinion is it would be nice to have someone from the DMV talk to us about SMOG issues.  Charlie Manchester said he might be able to arrange this.

Have a Jag dealer come talk with us.  Gary Dyer said he maybe able to arrange this.

How do we get new Members?

Free dinner to come to a RJC Monthly Dinner Meeting. (Only one free dinner for each prospective couple)

Decals that have the RJC logo and Leaping Leopard on it for all members to advertise the club on their cars.  Possibly get Peel off decals so can move them and put on your other cars.

Membership contest - member to bring in most new prospects each month will win a nice gift.  All members to have a supply of "Tag A Jag" postcards. Will see if Larry Lenker can get more of these postcards made up.  Members to initial and date postcards so that when the postcards show up at the clubs mail P.O. Box we will know who "found" the potential new members.

Post an ad in the RGJ under Jaguar cars and under Events - Dave Minedew to look into this.

See if we can get dealerships to buy RJC memberships for people buying Jaguars - good publicity.

Do a mailing.  Get mailing list from "Panda" - Gary Dyer to look into this.

See if the Automobile Museum will direct people to the RJC.

Charlie mentioned a billboard, but was considered too expensive.

Join local parades with a show of our cars

Do events with other car clubs

Check out "GonnaHappen.com In Reno" website.  Add our club to this.  Gary to check into this.

Have a link to our club's website on Gary Dyer's business webpage.

Flyers for repair shops/car dealers

2005 Questionnaire - Reviewed and approved to be passed out at Jan. dinner Meeting.  Sheet/application for "A Day on Village Green" to be added.  Patti Wilder to take care of this.

Ideas for Events for this year

Do some SCCA driving events - Gary to see about this

Have a picnic at the Carson City Train Museum in place one of our monthly dinner meeting.  This picnic lunch would be free and each family will be asked to bring a side dish of some sort to share.  Patti to follow up on this

Dinners - Dates and Places:  Patti to have schedule made up ASAP so members can mark their calendar in advance for these month dinner meeting.

PA System for meetings - get one on Ebay?  Price limit ____?    The PA system that was requested by Patti because it was felt that board members and others had a hard time being heard at the RJG dinner meeting.  Request was voted down - decided to charge offending members (members talking during the RJC dinner discussion time) $1.00 each.  Money to be used for club activities.

Membership Dues - Harry Keast will be collecting this year’s membership due.  The dues are $70.00/couple, $55.00/individual memberships. Application forms can be found in the email that was sent out to each member and/or can be copied off our RJC webpage, (www.renojaguarclub.com)

Can Harry do another RJC roster soon?  Will Larry volunteer to write it?  Harry needs to have completed registration applications before new roster can be made.  He will ask Larry to do this roster or will do this himself.

Treasurers report was given by Dave Minedew: It was noted that we were overdrawn last month when Dave and Sunny were traveling the world.  Deposits weren’t made until they returned home.  This has now been rectified.  Patti will take over doing deposits in Dave absence.

The current status of the treasure:

Operating account:                                $2,743.07
Day on the Village Green account    $1,585.12

Anything else?

There was talk about having a perpetual trophy given to the member(s) who have perfect dinner attendance for the year.

Senior discounts on dinners?

Need people to canvas the Carson City and Reno area for advertising in the Day on the Village Green programs.

Need people to get raffle prizes for the Day on the Village Green
Minutes by Patti Wilder

Here are some of the events that are being planned:

  • An overnight (or day trip) to the Lodi Wine Country
  • Sunday morning jaunts
  • A trip to Burbank California to meet Jay Leno and to see his extensive car collection
  • Speakers at our dinner meetings.
  • Tech Sessions

2005 is promising to be an exciting year for us!  Again, we can't do this if you don't come, so please plan on attending more of these activities - this will be so FUN!
