President Mike Glass convened the first Reno Jaguar
Club Board meeting of 2009.
Membership
Harry Keast noted that 8-9 members have net yet
renewed their membership. He will close out the membership roster at
the end of January. He estimates that the Club will have 45 members as
of January 2009.
A Day on the Village Green
Mike Johnson and Mike Glass have visited several
possible sites for holding this year's event. Possible venues are:
The Cal Neva, Lake Tahoe
Mike Johnson indicated that the feedback he has had
was that everyone liked the Cal Neva. Although the hotel is in
receivership, they have made assurances that they will remain in
business this year. In order to eliminate the pine pollen which occurs
in June, Mike Johnson noted that the second and third weekends in July
are available at present, and he suggested the third weekend in July to
tie in with the upcoming Hot August nights events. Booking one of these
dates would be contingent upon receiving the low season rates.
The Inn at Squaw Creek, Squaw Valley
A second alternative would be the Inn and Squaw
Creek, which would be a very nice venue with the possibility of setting
aside a grassy area to place the cars. The rates in late spring are
good; however Mike Johnson has not inquired about summer rates.
The Hyatt Regency, Incline Village
A third alternative would be the Hyatt Regency
where there is a wonderful grassy area in the center of a condo
complex. However, this is probably out of the Club's price range at
$300/night. Mike Johnson was hoping for a location with a rate of
approximately $90 night.
The Board agreed that Mike Johnson should pursue
the Cal Neva as a first option.
Trophies
Mike Johnson noted that there are some trophies
left over from the last event, but some additional ones will need to be
purchased. All Board members liked the former trophies so it was
proposed that the same design be used for the '09 event.
Seed Money
Dave Minedew indicated that $1,800 from the Club
treasury was given in 2007 as seed money for DVG. A motion was made by
President Mike Glass to release club funds for seed money. Vice
President Larry Richardson seconded the motion and the Board unanimously
approved the motion. Mike Johnson will look into the amount needed to
get things going this year.
Other
A motion was made and the Board members agreed to
retain the “all British” composition for entries. Mike Glass suggested
soliciting vendors to set up booths at the event. He will also check on
possible conflicts with other Concours events in July.
JCNA 2009 Annual General meeting
Board members agreed that the Reno Jaguar Club
submit a proxy in order to vote on issues brought up at the meeting.
Specifically, the Club is concerned about a proposal to reverse a policy
that Driven class cars can be trailered to events, as the Club is in
favor of retaining the current policy.
Other Items
- Harry Keast suggested the
Club look for ideas to increase membership.
- When printing additional
Tag-A-Jag forms, the Club may want to include information on this
year's A Day on the Village Green event.
- Another tech session is
tentatively scheduled for the first Saturday in May at Gary Dyer's
garage. When confirmed, Mike Glass will distribute a flyer with
details.
Meeting adjourned at 1:00 pm.
