(NOTE: Notes in black are the Meetings Agenda and the green are the boards discussion and decisions)

Board officers in attendance:

Patti Wilder - President

Gary Dyer – Vice President

Kathy Dyer - Observer

Harry Keast – Membership Chairman

Mike Glass – Social Director

Dave Minedew - Treasurer

Sunny Minedew – Secretary

Patti’s Goals as President:

#1 – Put the “Meeting” back into RJC Dinner/MEETING
So far we have had three speakers:

Iain Buxton

Eric Landau

Matt Wilder

#2 – Put Car back into Reno Jaguar CAR Club:

Have had a trip to The Fernley Vintage Races

Members have participated in 2 car showings

In & Out Burger meets are planned with the other European Clubs

Race time is being planned – I have spoken to Jeremy Cable and he will be

sending me an email with Routes we can take to make this affordable.

#3 – Double membership

We have new members, where are they?

In a general discussion of membership goals, Harry Keast will look into the design and purchase of Jag club car windshield decals, license plate holders, pins, and patches which could be displayed by members to promote the Club and new membership.    Also, he suggested that a short flyer, possibly taken from the web site,  listing the club goals and a calendar of upcoming activities would encourage new members to participate in future events.

Mike Glass noted that a banner could be displayed at the In & Out Burger meet to promote the club.  He has also spoken with Ron Smith of Safeway, who may be willing to sponsor show and shines.

Continue Tag-A-Jag campaign

This has been successful in generating new members and will be continued.

Subjects to discuss:

Tech Sessions:

Topics such as oil changes, wash and wax and restoration were suggested.  Gary and Patti will contact Mike Johnson, and Charlie Manchester in this regard

Ideas for events and trips this year:

Proposed events included:  A return trip to Lodi for a wine tour, or wine tasting in the Shenandoah Valley.  Short road trips to Graeagle, around Lake Tahoe, the Red Rock loop in Reno, and Virginia City to Carson City are also possibilities

Stop raffles for awhile.  In place of, why don't we do a RJC Garage Sale?

1- This could be Good advertising for our club in the paper and on all Signs we could put ”Sponsored by the Reno Jaguar Club” on them. People with Jags may see these signs and come and find out more about our club. We will need a home to sponsor this Sale. We could do in impromptu BBQ

2 – This would be a good source of income for the club.  My small “Stuff Sale” recently brought in $300.  A RJC one could very easily bring in much more.

The Board was enthusiastic about this, as it would raise funds and also promote the club.  Items could include anything members would like to donate, including Jag parts.  Gary Dyer volunteered his medical building parking lot for a Sunday.  He also has an enclosed car hauler which could be used to store items which are dropped off prior to the sale. used to store items which are dropped off prior to the sale.

Patti & Dave to figure out times to go to the PO and get mail.

Patti will look into acquiring a second key and Patti and Dave will alternate checking the post office box for mail.

Attendance Enticement:

Black Out “JAGUAR” Bingo:
(This will be called J-A-G-U-R Bingo instead of B-I-N-G-O)

This will hopefully bring members to each dinner/meeting with the hopes of winning the “Big Jackpot”!

The way this would work is that at each dinner/meeting members could purchase Bingo cards for the cost of $1.00 per card and have an equal chance of winning the Big Jackpot.

How this is played:

The first person to cover his/her entire Bingo Card is the winner.

At the 1st dinner the caller will call out 30 Bingo balls.  If anyone gets a Black Out,  (where the Bingo card is completely covered), they will win the ENTIRE Bingo money collected.  If no one wins on this night the game will continue to the next Dinner/Meeting.  The money collected from the 1st dinner will be added to the pot of the second dinner.  Five more balls will be added for this game for a total of 35 balls.  If there still is no a winner at this dinner the money will be added to the pot of the next

dinner/meeting(s) where 5 more Bingo balls will be added & called each time.

 Example:

Dinner/Meetings:

Pot Amount:

(based on 30 tickets being sold at each dinner – the pot could be significantly higher if more tickets are sold)

Dinner/Meeting #1

$30 - $40 (some members may buy more them one card)

Dinner/Meeting #2

$60 - $80

Dinner/Meeting #3

$90 - $120

Dinner/Meeting #4

$120 - $150 and so on . . . .

As you see the “Bingo Pot” can grow into a large sum of money to be won by a member.

This will encourage members to come to sequential meetings to win this money! (Note: If two or more members happen to win the Black Out Bingo game at the same time, the Pot will be split evening among them.)

This has been successful with other groups, and it was agreed to try it at future meetings.  Kathy Dyer offered use of her bingo machine.

Gary Dyer also suggested initiating a "Jag trivia quiz" at every meeting.  A multiple-choice question would be listed on the bottom of the monthly dinner flyer mailed to members.  Members can bring these to the meeting, tear off the bottom, writing their name and answer.  All correct answers would be put in a drawing and the winner would receive a cash prize.

Another Enticement to come to dinners:

Prizes for members who've come the farthest (driving a Jag!) was suggested.  Mike Glass has some raffle prizes which could be used for this purpose.

Dinner/Meetings:

Can a Calendar be made with all the remaining dinners and events on it so that members who are planning trips can work around our dates?

This is very helpful for planning.  However, with home BBQ's scheduled for June, July, August and September, dates have not been set by the hosts, with the exception of August, which will be held at the Manchesters on Saturday, August 19 at 11:30.

All Members should have club rosters:

Extra copies of the Club roster will be brought to the next meeting, for those who would like them.

Should we reinstate calling members before dinner meetings?

Should a message be sent my regular mail to ever member explaining that there will not be phone calls any more?  Many members don’t always read their emails and or look at our WebPages and some still do not have Internet access.  Habits are hard to break, since for the last 20+ years members have always been called reminding them of the dinners.

It was agreed that sending both an e-mail and snail mail invitation to the monthly dinners was sufficient, and that there will be no follow up phone calls.  This will be noted on the flyers.

The August dinner should be a “Member’s Appreciation ‘Free’ Dinner” for all RJC members.  Guest should be charged a minimal fee - $7.50?

We have a performer all lined up: Richard Elloyan.  Richard has offered to play for $200 ($250?).  He will sing for 40 Minutes, take a break and play for another shorter time.  We will offer a free dinner for he and his wife.

What foods should we offer for this meal?:

Patti Wilder suggested that this be a “catered” meal where members do not have to do “anything” for this dinner.  Mike Glass will check into purchasing a container of ready-made ribs from BJ's BBQ.  Club officers will provide the salads.  Also beans, water, sodas, paper plates, etc. will be purchased and paid for by the Club.  Any additional beverages will be BYOB

Gary Dyer volunteered to create a "driving challenge" on the way to the Manchesters starting from the bottom of Spooner Summit.

It was decided that the Club will purchase everything, with the exception of BYOB.  A proposal to provide a free dinner at the next Jag dinner for the Manchesters to thank them for their hospitality was made.

Other Business:

Iain proposed that we do something similar to the Dixon event.  He said that we have a much better location and that we could really make a name for ourselves.  Any volunteers to work on this?

It was felt that something similar to this was too ambitious for our Club to undertake.

Tee Shirts for all members – take orders again with a pass around sheet at the next dinner meeting.

Another order will be placed at the next meeting.

Patti asked for advanced copies of emails sent out to the RJC from each officer.

This was noted and agreed by all officers present.

Business Cards For All Members.

It would be nice when we meet people and/or in our correspondence with other clubs we could hand them a business card.  Would look professional and add some status to our clubs image.

It was agreed that business card which listed the web site and PO address, which all Club members could distribute to potential members was a great idea.  Gary Dyer suggested a design of a logo of the Reno Arch with a Jag sleeping on (or leaping off)!

Dave Minedew will check into the cost of ordering 1,000 business cards.

There is now a place on our website for “Want Ads”.  This will cover anything our members want to sell.  We have been approached by other clubs to advertise for them.  This could be a public service we could offer them.

Treasurer's Report:

There is:

$5,600 in the operating account,

$1,585 in the Village Green account.
