Iain Buxton, 25th Anniversary Badges
President Larry Richardson opened the meeting with a discussion of the
car badges and pins commemorating the RJC 25th anniversary, which were
designed and purchased by Iain Buxton. Iain noted that in addition to
the badges and 25th anniversary pins, an additional set of pins were
redone which do not include reference to the anniversary. At present, 9
badges and pins have been purchased.
After a lengthy discussion the Board members recommended the
following:
The Club will reimburse Iain for the total amount of $1,900 which he has
paid for the badges and pins. However, due to the Christmas party and
other expenses, he will be paid at a later date.
The Club will purchase the 100 non-anniversary pins at a cost of $250,
which will be mailed to new members, as they join. Additional pins can
be purchased for $5 each. In addition, the Club will purchase the
anniversary pins for $250, for a total of $500 (as partial payment
toward the $1,900 amount.) Patti Wilder suggested that the anniversary
pins be given as gifts to current members at the Christmas party. (Those
who have already purchased the badge and anniversary pin will receive a
non-anniversary pin free.)
Charter members of the Reno Jaguar Club will each receive a free badge
and pin.
Patti Wilder will send a letter to Club members who have not purchased a
badge with an order form, to encourage and facilitate ordering. It is
the hope that enough people will buy the badges so that the Club can
break even on these beautiful commemorative items.
RJC Christmas Party
Mina and Sam Dibitonto have reserved facilities at the Hidden Valley
Country Club for dining and dancing, with a band. As part of the
celebration, the Club will be observing its silver anniversary. Mina and
Patti Wilder designed a lovely invitation which is being mailed to all
members. A discussion was held regarding the choice of rooms available
for the bar and dinner. Larry Richardson will contact Mina to let her
know that the decision will be left up to her.
In a unanimous vote of the Board members who were present, it was
decided that the Club will not subsidize the dinner; therefore, the $50
menu will be selected, rather than the $65 expanded menu. The Board also
determined that, due to liability and other issues, the Club should not
pay for wine at the event. An estimate on total costs for the room,
band, etc. is needed so that the Club Treasurer can budget for the
event.
All Board members were in favor of continuing the tradition of Toys for
Tots and a canned food drive. It was suggested that Mike Glass might be
willing to help with this, as he has in the past. He will be contacted
about this. Patti Wilder will include information about the donations on
the mailing she will be sending out in reference to the badges, for
those who plan to attend the Christmas dinner.
Decorations will include hurricane lamps surrounded by wreaths. Patti
Wilder suggested putting together a montage of RJC pictures to be
displayed on a poster board. Larry Richardson suggested that perhaps
Ellie Richardson could assist her on this project.
Larry Richardson and Harry Keast proposed requesting a proclamation by
the mayor of Reno in recognition of the 25th anniversary. All Board
members were in favor of this suggestion. Larry will look into this. The
proclamation could be displayed on the montage.
There will be a ceremony to award the charter members their badges.
Elections
A brief discussion was held regarding the upcoming elections to be held
at the November dinner. Patti Wilder will prepare a ballot to include
those who have indicated that they are willing to run for office.
The Board recommended that the responsibilities of Social Director
should be divided up among the members as was done this past year. This
seemed to be a successful solution to a previously very time consuming
job. Patti Wilder will prepare packets to bring to the January meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 1:45 pm.
