Tech Session
January 9, 2010

We had a great turn-out to kick off the first the session of 2010.  Seventeen members attended the January 9^th event: Rex Black, Iain Buxton, Mick Collins, Gary Dyer, Alex Evans, Tony Fakonas, Carl Fuetsch, Gerald Garra, Mike Glass, Harry Keast, Dave Minedew, Bob Parshall, Buck Redman, Belmont Reid, Larry Richardson, Peter Smith, and Rich Wilder.  Gary Dyer generously provided the use of his oversize garage, and Gerard Garra prepared and presented a great demonstration on how to measure and adjust the valve clearances on an overhead cam XK engine.  Not only did Gerard provide a detailed explanation of how to do this job, everyone who wanted to had the opportunity to try their hand at measuring the current clearance, determining what shim changes were needed to bring the gap back into specifications, and switch out the shims to make the change.  Is there any better way to spend a foggy Saturday morning than hanging out in the garage with a bunch of Jaguar guys?
