Reno Jag Club Outing to the
Cowboy Poetry & Music
Festival in Genoa
Five Jags graced the Tamarack parking lot for our road trip to
Genoa. Harry Keast was the first to arrive, just to say hello and
bid us adieu, as he wasn’t able to join us. The Minedews, Buxtons
and MacNeils arrived, then Gerard Garra and Lola Mitchell pulled in
with his beautiful restored red Jaguar (see photos.)
We were able to park our cars close to town in a grassy area at the
Wild Rose Inn in Genoa, thanks to Sue Knight, the owner, who even
put up the Jaguar parking sign for us! After walking a short
distance to the center of town, we had worked up an appetite, so
started our visit with a pancake breakfast. We were in plenty of
time for the performance of Richard Elloyan, as well as two other
acts. It turns out that Sue was the moderator, and announced that
Richard’s fan club – the Reno Jaguar Club - was in attendance!
Some of us stayed to explore the activities and shops, and for
afternoon performances by Dennis Golden and Texas Tom Weatherby, and
the Minedews finished off the day with an early cowboy dinner. It
was a very fun day.
