UBSCC all British Car Show
On Saturday May 17th, 2008 some members of The Reno Jaguar Club attended The United British Sports Car Club’s “Calling all British Cars” Motorcar Show and Swap Meet in Sacramento. Rex & Dixie Black, George & Marj Tabor, and Mike & Kathy Glass met at Gold Ranch Casino in Verdi to make the road trip together. Charlie & Carolyn Manchester met us there, and some friends of The Manchester’s, Gary & Linda Norton in a Triumph TR6, also met us at the hotel. After a break we met in the lobby and feasted on a yummy BBQ Dinner in the historic district of Woodland. After stuffing ourselves we walked off our dinner and found a Mexican restaurant for coffee, margaritas, and some dessert before turning in for the night. The next day we cleaned up our cars and took our assigned spots on the infield. Later in the morning two other club members arrived, Ron Pizer, with his E-Type Roadster, and Randy Wright and guest also with an E-Type Roadster also made the trip. The weather was unusually hot for this time of the year with temps into the 100’s, but we managed with the help of lots of water and Carolyn Manchester’s misting devices! She was soaking us all day long! There were well over 200 cars, lots of spectators and the club represented very well by winning five times! Charlie & Carolyn Manchester won a third in class participant’s choice for their 1950 Mark V, HMS JAG, a first place in class for Participant’s Choice for their 1947 Mark IV, Rosie, and they also took home a coveted People’s Choice Award for Rosie! Way to go Team Manchester! Mike and Kathy Glass won 1st Place for the XJ6 Class, and George & Marj Tabor won a second place for the Jaguar M class that included the XK8’s and others. The award of the weekend however, goes to Carolyn Manchester who drove the Mark V from Stateline, NV 150+ miles to Woodland in 100+ degrees weather with no air conditioning!
