The Reno Jaguar Club Trip To Volcano, California

On October 8, 2005 a group of us from the Reno Jaguar Club did a Fall Car Run to Volcano, California.  Peter and Patty Smith were the organizers of this beautiful scenic drive.  They arranged the route, photo stops, lunch, hotel and dinner.  A heartfelt thanks goes out to them for organizing this.

The members that made this journey were:

  • Peter & Patty Smith
  • Gary & Kathy Dyer
  • Mike & Kathy Glass
  • Iain & Wendy Buxton
  • Rich & Patti Wilder
  • Sunny & Dave Minedew

The day started out threatening rain, but as the day progressed the clouds disappeared and gave way to the most beautiful car caravanning weather.  We started the cruise from the Smith's home in Carson City, Nevada and went through Jack's Valley over to highway 88.  We made a stop at Sorensen's  Resort where the trees were a blaze of color, (See pictures below).  After a photo op there we headed to Sutter Creek for a delicious, leisurely lunch.  After lunch we hit some wineries in the Amador County Wine Country where many of us stocked up on some fabulous wines.

We arrived at the Famous Volcano Hotel around 6:00 PM.  We had just enough time to clean up and meet at the bar for a drink before heading to the dining room for another great meal.  After dinner it was off to bed for a relaxing nights sleep.

We all met once again for a complimentary breakfast in the breakfast room at the Volcano Hotel.  Some members had to leave to go home right after breakfast but the others went to Black Chasm for incredible mine tour.

For all of you who didn't make it on this trip really missed out on some of the most beautiful sights you will ever see and the great companionship of the club members.  Maybe we can do this again next year?

A special thanks goes out to the Glasses, the Dyers and the Buxton's for contributing the above  pictures!
